Lower Primary (LP) schools in the Assam areas that have in excess of 100 COVID-19 cases will be closed, authorities said on Sunday.
The Deputy Commissioner of a district can order to close lower primary schools and pre-elementary schools if the COVID cases cross the 100-mark, they said.
The choice was taken considering the consistent increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in certain regions, they added.
A request to execute the choice was given on Saturday and it will stay in power up to May 8 or until additional bearings, they said.
Nonetheless, in the regions where the COVID cases are underneath the 100-mark, the lower primary schools (Classes 1 to 5) and pre-elementary schools will work according to the rules gave by the Education Department in December a year ago, authorities said.
